Last week Teresa, Neelima and Kinga from the Nottingham Fixing the Future team attended the Sustainability Showcase at BBC Concert Orchestra’s Wild Isles Live in Nottingham City Centre.
During the afternoon we spoke to a local secondary school about our research around the challenges of repairing IoT technologies and the way in which the game represents those challenges. Many of the children were interested in the game and some tried out the maintenance and repair mechanics to see whether the devices in their households could last another round.
The evening involved theatre guests browsing all the sustainability research exhibits to learn about lots of related research from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent Universities. The showcase was open for an hour pre-performance and during the interval. The Nottingham team ran an active stand with many visitors enquiring about the research behind the game and the details of the game play. Unfortunately due to the nature of the event they were not able to allow visitors to play the game, however, contact information was supplied to express interest in upcoming game events.
The BBC Concert Orchestra’s Wild Isles Live performance was breathtaking. It was a honour to be there supporting them by exhibiting our work. Thank you to all the organisers, performers, fellow exhibitors and visitors for making this a really great event.
